Our Vision of Patient-Centered Care
We have a vision for the future of retinal treatment, but our focus is on your care.
As the only specialized retina practice in central South Carolina, Palmetto Retina Center is committed to being a home for patient-centered treatment. How do we do that? By making exceptional retina care accessible to all. We operate from seven office locations, accept all forms of insurance, and connect patients to a team of dedicated, compassionate physicians.
Founded in 2001, our practice provides medical and surgical care for disorders involving the retina, macula and vitreous, including even rare conditions, like retinal vein occlusion and geographic atrophy. We also have the only doctor in the area who treats retinopathy of prematurity, a condition affecting children. Patients from all over the state travel to our offices, because we strive to accommodate every situation, regardless of scheduling, disorder severity or financial constraints.

A Legacy of Success in South Carolina
Through our recent partnership with Carolina Retina Center, we are expanding our resources and capabilities to enhance the retinal care experience for patients throughout the state of South Carolina.Founded in 1992, Carolina Retina Center was the first retina-only practice in the Central South Carolina area. Before Carolina Retina Center opened, patients with retinal conditions had to travel as far as Georgia and North Carolina to receive the care they needed. Led by Dr. Jeffrey Gross and Dr. Barron Fishburne, Carolina Retina Center has established itself as a center of excellence and a beacon of exceptional care.
A Future Built on Research
Palmetto Retina Center is built on a passion for research and a desire to make innovative retinal treatments available to all patients. Our clinical research is tied directly to the care we provide, and has allowed us to offer you treatment options that are effective but not yet widely available. If you’re uninsured or seeking alternative treatments, our team can work with you to explore those options.
