Palmetto Retina Center, in conjunction with Prisma Health and the University of South Carolina, is proud to present our Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship program in Columbia, SC. It is the first retina training program in South Carolina and is part of our commitment to providing advanced retinal care to patients throughout the region.
Program Description
This 2-year fellowship in vitreoretinal medicine and surgery offers training in all areas of the specialty. With 8 current full-time faculty, the service currently averages over 1000 cases per year in hospital and ASC settings. The fellow can expect to be in the operating room 3-5 days a week.
Our group is heavily involved in clinical research with two of our partners having chaired the DRCR Retina Network’s Protocols S & T. The fellow will receive a clinical faculty appointment from the University of South Carolina and will staff the resident retina clinic. Fellows will participate in our journal club and monthly case presentations hosted by Retina Consultants of America. Research publications/presentations are encouraged but not required. There is no travel requirement.
